Disclaimer: I’m about to go scorched Earth on Kamaru Usman even though hes probably a great guy. Instead of criticizing Kamaru Usman the man, I am going to be talking about Kamaru Usman the fighter and UFC character. The UFC has a shitty way of making their athletes turn into these unlikable characters in order to boost PPV numbers, so its important to always take the things they say with a grain of salt. So take this whole article with a grain of salt. With that being said, lets fucking go.
For those of you who don’t know who Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is. He’s the baddest motherfucker in the game. Literally has the belt to prove it. He was BMF long before claiming that belt though. He is the most Miami athlete in the world right next to the OG Udonis Haslem. Born and raised in Dade.
There’s been a lot of shit talking about Jorge on social media recently because he wants to be paid what he’s worth. Let me stop right here to have a word with the people who think that the most entertaining fighter on the planet right now, the one who brings the UFC the most cash, shouldn’t be paid what hes worth. Jorge Masvidal has close 50 fights on his professional fighting record and that’s not counting those crazy ass backyard fights he was getting into as a teenager in Dade. Excuse the man for wanting to get the fattest fucking check he can so that he can take care of his kids and doesn’t have to get his fucking head beat the shit out of for another 10 years to make sure that him and his family are taken care of. If you have a problem with this, you’re just a drooling fucking troglodyte.
Masvidal just took on a championship fight with only SIX DAYS NOTICE! I know for a fact he’s gotta be getting paid and I hope he’s getting 100% off PPV revenue because absolutely no one on the planet has ever said “I’m excited to watch Kamaru Usman fight.” Literally fucking no one and if you have? Save me your lecture about how Usman is a great technical fighter cause I promise you I really don’t give a damn. The only reason people want to watch this fight is because Jorge Masvidal will be there. Usmans last 4 fights have come against the 4 most boring people in the UFC. Listen, Usman may be chiseled like a fucking statue and has taken some hits from guys will pillow hands over his career but Masvidal punches hit WAYYYYYY different than anyone else hes faced. Masvidal has triple the fighting experience Usman has and also has the sweetest hair ever. The build up to this fight has been going on since Masvidal beat the shit out of Nate Diaz and won the BMF belt.
Part of me feels bad because I know Usman isn’t a show pony the UFC wants him to be like Conor is. In every interview I had heard, Usman seemed like a chill dude. But like I said earlier, the UFC has a way off turning their fighters into these WWE hype-men. Usman has ramped up his shit talking since he dominated Tyron Woodley to win the belt. The only person that I believe Usman actually hated is Colby Covington and that because Covington is the biggest cunt in the UFC. Even as someone who is not a fan of Usman, seeing him do this to that glassed jawed bitch put a huge smile on my face. If there’s one thing Masvidal and Usman have in common, it would be their shared disdain of Colby Covington.
To end, let me say this. Masvidal has provent to be the baddest motherfucker in the game long before the BMF belt, before the fastest knockout in UFC history, before the free 3 piece and a soda he gave to Leon Edwards and way before his knockout of the extremely talented Daren Till in his hometown. Even before his other THIRTY-TWO victories in his professional career. His ascension to the title of BMF started in a McDonalds drive thru, when he got a phone call to go fight the late Kimbo Slices protege, Re and whooped his fucking ass with the GOAT, Kimbo, in attendance. Point being, Jorge Masvidal was born to take fights on short notice. When the lights shine brightest, the dude shows up and whoops ass. Win or lose, never question the legitimacy of the BMF.
